Dear IAPHL Members,

Well August was a busy month for many of us. I have continued to provide continuous support for the PtD Indaba that will take place in Zambia in October. The technical committee spent a great deal of time selecting the best abstracts for the conference. My own two abstracts were accepted. There will be a presentation on the potential of the IAPHL chapters, which I hope our two chapter leaders attending the conference will join me to do. Then Rachel and our local consultant and I will do an hour and a half workshop of Advocacy. I will also moderate a couple of sessions, including one on youth in supply chain. Busy week.

This week will try something new for us.  IAPHL is hosting a webinar on Thursday, September 15th on Gender and Social Inclusion in Health Supply Chains which will be followed by a 3-part virtual skills building workshop on the same subject.

The chapters have been doing some great things with the small grants. Alas, we have ended our applications for the small grants.  All the chapter grantees will have until the end of November to complete all of their funded activities.  Our overall grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will end this calendar year. We hope that they will refund IAPHL sometime next year.

The Advisory Group will be meeting this month to finalize the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the new Governing Council.  At this meeting, the members will discuss and approve the application forms for the rotating memberships as well as the two members at large.

The chapter leaders will meet this month to hear presentations from their members to be considered for the role of Chapter Council Chair:  one for the Francophone group and one for the Anglophone group.  These two chairs will represent the Chapter Council on the Governing Council.

Finally, the recruitment for the ½ time Executive Director to be based in Africa continues.  We have received a few qualified candidates so far.  The deadline to apply is Monday, September 19th. Apply HERE.

Applications will not be accepted via email or on the IAPHL Listserv!

All the best,

Walter Proper, IAPHL Executive Director
