Since 2009, the Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency (PFSA) has used a new supply chain system to manage essential health commodities in the public sector—the Integrated Pharmaceutical Logistics System (IPLS). A new report, Ethiopia: National Survey of the Integrated Pharmaceutical Logistics System, shows that the system has generated significant improvements, increasing the availability of medicines and other health supplies. For most products surveyed at facilities implementing IPLS, availability was above 90 percent.
