The advent of PEPFAR and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was a boon to the HIV/AIDS community. SCMS alone, over the last eight years, has delivered more than $1.43 billion in commodities to support 2.5 million people on HIV/AIDS treatment. But blessings can bring challenges. The exponential increase in commodities flowing from the ports, through customs, to central warehouses, service delivery points and into the waiting hands of patients required major physical and capacity infrastructure investments.

Several countries’ supply chains were at risk of being overwhelmed by donated commodities and needed quick and easily implementable solutions to their storage challenges.
