John Tutu Harris has spent over a decade in Supply Chain/Logistics and is currently the Director Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU) in the Ministry of Health, Liberia. He joined IAPHL in 2013 and he finds the exchange of supply chain/logistics information among members very useful. He believes that the knowledge he has garnered through the information and experiences shared on the listserv helped him manage the Ebola healthcare supply chain efficiently and effectively along with other partners in the country.
John sees his work as serving humanity by creating an enabling environment that allows for uninterrupted supply/access to essential healthcare commodities to all those that require them. And he loves that there are new innovations in supply chain everyday which will allow him to do his job better. However, challenges such as inadequate supply chain governance and political will towards supply chain system strengthening, inadequate supply chain workforce capacity, and supply chain fragmentation limit his ability to do so.
He would like to see supply chain partners/organizations like IAPHL engage with governments to advocate for the need to prioritize Supply Chain/ Logistics Workforce development initiatives.
