Hello October,
As we step into October, it’s a fitting time to reflect on the small yet powerful changes that shape both our personal and professional lives.
The Ethiopia Initiative is now in its second month. The Book Of The Month for October has been shared by Selamawit Gebreyesus, – Atomic Habits by James Clear. The book inspires and reminds us that the habits we cultivate either work for us or against us. These habits are the building blocks of who we become—and as a community, they determine how we grow together.
IAPHL focuses on small, intentional habits to strengthen our community:
- Weekly Office Hours: Convening every Thursday during office hours to connect, discuss, and network.
- Spontaneous Calls: Staying open to those unplanned conversations that often spark the most innovative ideas.
- Moderated Discussions: Ensuring we have continuous learning through structured conversations on our listserv.
- Resources and Tool Sharing: Sharing on the listserv what we’ve learned and the resources we’ve gathered with the entire community.
- Networking and Connecting: Building stronger professional bonds that extend beyond the screen and into our day-to-day work.
Don’t forget—October is Cancer Awareness Month. Let’s take this opportunity to promote health, awareness, and support for those affected by cancer in our circles and beyond.
Wishing you all a productive and meaningful October!
Warm regards,
Natty Stelle KOKOLO
IAPHL Community Manager

Promoting Workforce Performance Practices in Humanitarian Settings
Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 9–10 AM Eastern Time/13:00 UTC
We are glad to announce a technical discussion organized by the Humanitarian Commodities Logistics (HCL) Community of Practice and the Building Capacity to Improve Health Commodity Management in Humanitarian and Disaster Settings program. With support from USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, we will look at practices that improve workforce performance to manage humanitarian health supply chains and connect expert knowledge in managing human resources. This topic is at the center of everything humanitarian responders do—without trained and motivated professionals to manage health supply chains in emergencies, they cannot deliver health supplies where and when they are needed.
